Mary's Story

If someone has truly been my friend, then they will say that I always try to treat one as I would like to be treated. I am not a mean or spiteful person, and if I can lend a helping hand, I will-but if I feel not appreciated or slighted in any way, I will distance myself from you without any more conversation. No confrontations. As odd as it may seem, I really don't remember thinking about an adult life. At one point, in high school, I felt that I might like to be a nurse, until I realized I was too squeamish at the sight of blood and gore. I am sure my mother never even knew that I considered this vocation for even a minute. I blow off steam, by going home, to my abode, playing some music, and talking to the LORD about whatever and or whoever has rubbed me the wrong. I curse, cry etc. until....release. My favorite way to relax is to play some kind of game, whether it is hand held, computerized or whatever. What's the wildest thing you ever did in school? Upon giving this question serious consideration, I can honestly say I can't recall any wildness. Now when I was in my early 30's and getting "HIGH", that's another story!!!! 5. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have adequate ventilation, co-workers with good work ethics, and spiritually grounded to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Do you have a hero? Talk about where your inspiration comes from. My hero is anyone that I can admire for their courage in adverse situations. My inspiration comes from my talks with the LORD. Where have you lived? Why did you move? As an adult, I have lived in 10 different addresses on the Southside of Chicago. Usually I moved because for some reason, I had too. 8. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Patricia Jackson because she was my first childhood friend. 9. I'm not obsessive about any sport, reality TV, or pet. When the Williams' sisters are playing, I like to watch tennis. I like Survivor. I like cats and dogs, but have neither. 10. Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise? More than surprised, I have been devastated to find out that people are so deceitful, selfish, untrustworthy etc......... 11. My home is an apartment, therefore there will be remodelling and adding on anything. My dream home home would be a farmhouse on a ranch. 12. Parent? Share what you've learned from your kids. Yes, I am a parent, although many times I didn't act like one. From the two strong, independent adults, that I bore, I have learned to be less trusting, more organized, stronger in spirit and to laugh more often. 13. Which teacher would you love to see again? Why? I would love to see my Division 306 teacher, Ms. Carrie Browning again. I would like to tel...Expand for more
l about the remorse I have felt through the years for not following her educational based advice and her obvious genuine affection. 14. If I won $100 million, I'd give my daughter half of it, some to my son, then spend the rest on real estate, family and charity. 15. I've never lived in a dorm. Briefly at Kennedy-King College, I was a Phi-Beta-Lambda (future business leader). Yeah right!!! 16. To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom? If I were truly happy, I would be anywhere "REAL" people are, playing cards or some kind of game, eating and drinking and laughing. I would really prefer if these people were my family, but that's not likely. 17. My current age is 60, when I was 12, I can't recall even thinking about age, one way or the other. I was so completely inattentive to people and things around me. 18. Working hard - no. Hardly working - yes. I believe it is a little late for career aspirations. I would like to be in a position, to assist homeless people in some way. 19. I have no idea what happened to my first crush. 20. I have no best friend, but I will tell you that I'm moody, tend to have a dual pesonality and usually rather quiet. 21. In a sense, I probably dress more or less in the same manner, I've never been a fashion plate. I don't like dressing up, I am more comfortable with my pull-em up pants, and t-shirts and gym shoes. 22. I never had a weird job. 23. I share my home with all my stuffed children, which I find agrees with me because the only voice they have is the one I give them and I don't have to clean up after them. 24. No, I have no trophies on my non-existent mantel. A big victory I have though is I managed to stop smoking cigarettes in January 2005. 25. If I had a do-over, I would remain a virgin and concentrate 100% on school and career. 26. In 10 years, I hope to be sound in mind and body. I'm going to get there by exercising my mind and body and developing healthier eating habits. 27. I have no friend, new or old. 28. What about me would surprise everyone at your high school reunion? Since I didn't know everyone, most people wouldn't have an opinion one way or the other. Of the few people who might have been an acquaintance, they would rightly figure that I should have done more academically. Which is too true. 29. My first job was at Prudential Insurance, where I got paid $1.76 and hour to stuff coupon books, and do filing. What I remember most about it is how very boring and repetative it was. 30. A childhood memory that I will never forget, unless I become senile, is when my Uncle Shelp, would come over and set up a screen and show movies to us children. He was one of the nicest people that I knew as a child.
