Mary's Story

Since graduating, I received a bachelors degree in sociology from Western Michigan University and a masters in guidance and counseling from Oakland University. I have been married twice. I have a step-daughter and four grandsons, and three daughters, born in 1982, 1988 and 1988. Yes, twins. I worked for Comprehensive Youth Services in Macomb County in their methodone clinic...Expand for more
and later as director of their runaway shelter. From 1984 to 1996 I was the CEO of The Sanctuary, a similar program, in Oakland County. I helped start Care House in Mt. Clemens in 1996 and started my own consulting business later that year. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have flexibility, smart colleagues, and a team spirit to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
