Mary's Story

No, I've not grown anymore I'm still only 4'9.5"! That's probably how most of you remember me! The Short Girl! If you remember me at all I played in the band and sang in the Choir. And I was very short! Oh well I hope I made up for it in being friendly and fun. Of course I'm still riding horses! I have 2 sons, 31&33. 1grandson 10 and a new granddaughter to arrive on about Aug. 8th. I'm excited about having a granddaughter! I live on a portion of what used to be my parents' farm and raise horses and cattle! I'm also my husband Dennis bookkeeper and office manger! Yes, and I still don't like math! Thank heavens for computers! I rode on an Equestrian Drill team for 15 years, but haven't been riding as much since 2002, when we ladies got too old and tired to keep up the pace! I still ride though, the picture is of me(of course) and my filly Sweet Cheeks, that I have raised. I used to own her mother too, but with the market the way it is and the price of feed I had to make a tough choice of which to keep and which to sell. Besides her I have a palomino gelding named Mr Ed.( He was my last drill team horse) He is such a good horse I can't sell him. Then I have a crippled up little Quarter horse gelding named Kando, who I also raised. I didn't have the heart to put him down, he was such a fighter, with a will to live against all odds I just had to keep him! He can not be ...Expand for more
ridden so he is just a pasture ornament. My oldest son Josh works for Dennis and Jake works at a rare metals plant. He makes good money and benefits so he plans to stay there for now. We work for some local Lumber mills building logging roads and maintaining them. Both are good equipment operators. Jake well probably come work for us someday. My grandson is Jake's son, and is into sports unlike his dad ever was. The boys and I got into Taekowndo when they were in high school,( yes they both went to Sweet Home) We all three got our black belts! We went to tournaments all around here and even to the nationals in Las Vegas! We didn't win anything, but it was fun. Both my parents have passed, my dad in 1997 and mom in 2005. I took care of them as well as they got so they needed help. I do miss them, but life just goes on. I'm also very busy in my church the Community Chapel in Sweet Home. I do volunteer work in the Kids Church and other places. I enjoy the people there. The latest thing I decided to do was start playing the flute again. I joined a band in Eugene, called the New Horizons they are all over 40. We have fun playing and performing in the local area! I even decided to take a few lessons to get back some of the technique I lost over the 37 years since I last played. That's about all I can think to say now.
