Mary's Story
Life
April, 2008:
I'm still living in Cold Spring, MN, but I am now the owner of a Day Spa & Salon! The path I traveled to get to this position is pretty convoluted, but it started out with the fact that my husband and I have been Spa junkies for years, having visited Spas all over the world and the States.
Since I am the only person in the Salon that cannot even cut my OWN hair, I usually spend most of my time in the office, preparing financials, setting up events, and creating a lot of charts and graphs that show the growth of the salon, projections, etc. Yes, I am still the geek of the group. Oh well, has to be one in every group!
I am leaving next week to visit my sister, Jeannie, in California, and then shortly thereafter, my brother Ben and his famiy will be here for July 4th. In August, we're heading back to Colorado to visit more family.
Life is good! Stay well! MTS
July, 2007: I'm still in Cold Spring, MN. I've been here for nearly 1 1/2 years since I retired from my position with Fidelity (NYSE: FIS/FNF). I like to spend my time traveling, and have just wrapped up 2 back-to-back family reunions, one in California, and one here at my house in MN. Both were a great time.
I love doing volunteer work with elderly people--they are such a hoot!
Cold Spring, MN, reminds me quite a bit of the Broomfield, CO that I grew up in. We do not have a McDonald's or a Walmart, but do have 1 grocery store, 1 bowling alley, 2 pizza joints, 2 liquor stores, 1 church (Catholic),1 hardware store, and a pharmacy. The population here remains under 3,000, o...Expand for more
f which approximately 98% are caucasian, German descent, and Catholic. However, I am within 20 minutes of St. Cloud, approx. population of 70,000 and much more diversity.
I am enjoying being a stay-at-home dog mom, but like to go out with friends every once and a while.
My best friends from Broomfield High School, Brenda Brogado, Lori (Waitman) Rouse, and Thirza Powell, have remained my best friends, and all of them have been out to visit me in MN.
The company that my husband works for has become the number #1 energy drink production facility in the United States, and is in the top 5 world-wide. He loves his job and we are both very happy.
I am looking forward to seeing pictures from the 2007 reunion and am sorry I will be unableto attend.
Best Wishes,
Mary Tate Staples
April, 2006: Greetings from Cold Spring, Minnesota! I've been here for nearly 4 months. I previously lived in Jacksonville, Florida, and prior to that, Santa Barbara, CA. I was a Vice President and Director with Fidelity National Financial (NYSE: FNF). To celebrate my 10 year anniversary with Fidelity, I retired to follow my husband's career path in Minnesota. He is a Director for Gluek Brewery and I am a stay-at-home dog mom. I graduated from the University of Denver, 1998. I have four large dogs. I spend a good deal of time traveling to visit relatives, as my family is now scattered all over the country and I have family members as far away as Africa. On November 24, 2004, I married Dan Staples, a second marriage for both of us. Life is good. Best wishes to all, Mary (Tate) Staples
