Mary's Story
Well here we all are, way past those halls, and drama of high school. So much has happened in my life, like most not expected.
I married a couple of years after school, and had 4 beautiful daughters, family life was everything, but not so with the hubby. I helped him start 2 business, and he was not able to pull himself away for me and the girls. while I wanted to work on things he did not sadly.
Not too long after I met my present husband, Valentin. We have a son, Joe age 15. Thinking we were almost "free", we were confronted with a situation we could not turn away from. We became aware of children who came into care (dss) and knew God wanted us to take them in. Quite a defining moment!!! Do we talk it-or do we really walk the walk!!!
So, in they came, 2 by 2 then another...finally all sibs reunited. Did I mention it was 7 (shortly after became 8). So here we are almost 3 years later, working daily to help these kids (ages 2 thru 17) recupe a healthy life, after spending most of theirs in a living hell. But God is so good, and watching His restorative power transform them is a miracle occuring daily. Never in a million years did I think I would be raising 9 kids at age 54!!! God must have such a great sense of humor!!! What cou...Expand for more
ld He have been thinking, I am supposed to be "retiring" at this point~~~Just kidding, I am blessed to be part of the healing process of our gang and see the spark of hope that keeps the human soul pushing beyond the fear and darkness of the past. Kids are so resiliant,
So, my daily routine starts with kissing my honey goodbye in the early morning, getting 9 kiddos out the door between 7:45 and 8:00. Kick back, pray and order my day, then take whoever to doc, counseling, dentist, court appearences, foster meeting, review board mtg...and on it goes.
We are hoping and praying for a larger home,,,it is painfully crowded here!!!and also hoping this arrangement can become permanent with the children. Our greatest nightmare is for them to go back....although dad is in for life, thankfully.
So, I am, what I always wanted to be,a wife to a really good man, and a mom, and a "nana" to 3 cuties, and a "Tia" which means aunt in spanish, to 7 girls, and 2 boys. It is a full house, and a full life at this time.
Everyday is a new adventure, welllll,,some not so great,,,but never boring for sure!
To whoever should find this note, I wish you God's blessings, and would love to hear from you.
