Mary Helen's Story
Life
After high school and some college I moved to Houston, TX in 1963. I was married to Clyde Bateman and his work brought us here. After two beautiful daughters and agreeing on different paths for our lives, we divorced. I worked for an oil & gas-real estate development company for a little over 26 years and retired from there in 1999, with a newfound knowledge of breast cancer. All went well through surgery, chemo & radiation, but consumed a couple of years of my life...I'm most thankful to be a survivor. I'd been married to my wonderful husband Bill for 30 years and we shared five daug...Expand for more
hters and a son. Bill passed away in November, 2009 and life has taken an unexpected curve. I travel a little, enjoy the outdoors and keep my sanity in tact through my beloved grandchildren. I still visit family in Paris and always look for a familiar face. Would love to hear from any of you!!
January, 2012....Well, a new chapter has been added to my life. After 13 years, I have a recurrence of breast cancer. A little tougher battle this time as it has spread to bones and lymph nodes. I'm optimistic, determined and grateful to God, my family and friends for their ongoing support and love.
