Life I live in Santa Cruz, California, paradise on earth. After leaving Norman in 1966 to go to the Univ of Texas with Susan Hollon, my best friend, I finished up at UT in 1970 with a degree in French and English. I married Jim Peach, another faculty kid, and we lived in Austin and San Antonio while he finished his obligation to the Air Force. We went our separate ways when each of us went back to grad school...I got a Masters degree in special education-learning disabilities after having taught in Crystal City and San Antonio, Texas, elementary school, junior high, and special education classes. I ended up moving to California in 1975, where I got a job that I loved, doing training for teachers. That led me to get my Ph.D. and to devote the rest of my career to teaching grownups. I have been teaching at San Jose State University for the last 20 years. I married for a second time in 1983, to Frank Zappa's sound technician. We had a wonderful time on the road with Frank, before he left that lifestyle and became a serious chip designer and software designer. We adopted a baby at birth, the biological son of my brother and his wife. They didn't want kids, and we couldn't have any, so we decided that adoption would be a wonderful solution all the way around.
