Mary's Story
After high school, I went to college in New Hampshire ... majored in history and got a teacher's certificate. After college, I moved to Ohio and taught, then went to graduate school. Mid-way through, my husband and I got married. In 1987, we moved to Washington State. We've had 4 biological kids -- now 14, 18, 21, and 24, and have had foster kids. We have two foster kids now we hope to adopt... they're 3 and 5. I work part-time doing probate and estate planning work, being with the kids, and taking care of home and animals. My husband and I have been Christians for about 40 years, but we missed the whole right-wing movement that developed over the past 30 years. Faith is important to us, but our relationship with Jesus tends to move us more toward worship, service, and voting moderate-to-liberal.
Sandia High School years seem like ages ago, and yet it was a pivotal time. Today, I still remember fondly people I admired a lot back then -- teachers and other students -- cool people who inspired me in a lot of different ways...
