Mathew's Story

Life Spent a year at University of Detroit after graduating. Went to work for Detroit News, where I was at the time I was drafted into the Army. Spent time in Vietnam in the infantry until March 1971. Went back to work at the Detroit News where I met my first wife, had a boy child who is now over 30, with two children of his own. After many years completed Bachelors degree with major in accounting from Universtiy of Detroit. Got a position with Manufacturers Bank where I stayed through the merger with Comerica Bank, leaving in February 2000 after 20+ years. During that time met and married my third wife (I choose to forget the very short-lived second). Had another boy, now 21 years old. ing. Better half works for Flagstar Bank in Troy. Workplace First job at The Detroit News. Drafted into service and returned to the News where I worked in Payroll department at the time I left. Worked for personnel agency for a short time, after which I joined a subsidiary of Manufacturers Bank - Graham Mortgage Corp. in accounting department. Left Graham for a job with Trust Accounting at Manufacturers Bank. Moved to an officer position in Bank Investments at Manufacturers Bank. Went to Trust Department as Taft-Hartley manager at time of merger with Comerica Bank. Worked for 21 years with Manufacturers and Comerica Bank. Left banking for a position with a small public accounting firm and received CPA license from the State of Michigan.
