Sue Mathis's Story
I was on classmates some time ago, changed my email address and lost contact. I've lived all over the world, because of my husbands business. It was great! No airport hassles back then. 70's-85. We returned in 1985, and located in San Antonio, Texas. In the 90's my husband became very ill. He received a liver transplant, medical 3-4 years, and he passed away. In 2000 I returned to Long Beach, CA, with my sister encouraging me. Gail Mathis. She had two little girls, she and her husband had adopted. They tried to have children, and couldn't, (she really wanted to be a Mom) so they adopted two lovely girls. She had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer when the older daughter was 18 months old. It returned after being 5 1/2 years in remission. The girls were 6 and 9 when she passed away. Sooooo, for the last 10 years, I have been raising the girls, with their Dad. I became the :"Auntie Mame" in their life. I've had a great time! So before the "Auntie" gig, I was a very successful Realtor, while living in New York, and San Antonio, Texas, as a Broker/Owner in San Antonio, and then a short time here in Long Beach as a Realtor. When Gail's cancer came back, I quit. Good thing, the market was going in the toilet. While living in San Antonio, I learned of an energy work called Jin Shin Jyutsu. It's very specific ...Expand for more
for bringing energy up the body, and then returning is down the front of the body. Breathing is a big part of it, like what you do in Yoga. Between our church, Bible Study Fellowship, and Jin Shin Jyutsu, I have overcome a lot of sadness and grief that occurred in my life during the mid 90's to present. Our family was small. Now it's even smaller. My Dad passed away two years ago. Now, I'm in a totally different place. God has given me this journey of helping others, time to study his Word, and help others with their "projects" with JSJ. I'm a practitioner now for 14 years. It's a very peaceful and satisfying way to truly help others. I also do Pilates, golf, compete in Ballroom Dance with Arthur Murray. It is wonderful outlet for the girls and I. They love it as well. Gail would be proud of them. They sing, dance, Younger niece plays piano, drums, ukleilee and are in big school shows. Younger niece has also done "Young Americans". They come to her school for a weekend camp. It is sooo cool. The older niece graduated high school a year ago. The younger one has 2 more years of high school. I'm almost out of the kid department, but I have learned many lessons. All good, I must say. I have attended one reunion, saw a bunch of you there. It was great to see everyone. Hope we have another reunion soon.
