Matteo's Story
Life
After Riverhead came Fordham University, 1965 BA in History. I was still trucking with competitive sports:
IC4A 2 Mile indoor champion 1965, 9:06. 800 meters, 1:50.8, 5,000 meters in 14:16, ranked third in USA. Then came New York University, 1967 BS & MS in Geology. Worked for Doubleday Publishing, Chase Manhattan Bank and Merrill Lynch. Then, lived in Haiti 10 years, owned furniture factory and dried flower factory. Coached Haitian National track team from 1980 until 1984. Kept up the racing. National Masters 10k champion in 1984 (31:40). Caribbean International half-marathon champion 1:10:23 1983, best marathon, 2:27:08, 1982. 30k, 1:40:57 in 1979 in Albany NY. Best mile 4:06.9 (1968). Switched to triathlons in 1990. National age group 2nd place, short course triathlon. In cycling, Florida state time-trial champion and record holder 1996-present. Married for third (and last) time to the dream of my life, Violeta, who is a singer, songwriter-composer, ...Expand for more
and an esthetician. I am very proud of my 14 year-old son, Daumantas, who is a scholar and football all-star. I have been a financial advisor since 1986. Wrote one children's book, (Mrs. Spahn, please don't turn over in your grave - I grew up), and just completed my first novel, "Earthkill". I am working on my second novel, "Channel" (soon to be a motion picture) and have rewritten the screen play for "Vision" (based on the true story of a 100 percent blind football hero). Recently was appointed CEO of Cinema Island Productions (Mr. Goodyear, I know YOU'RE not turning over in your grave). We will be shooting "Kokonuts" in Key Largo later this Fall and a short "The Grind" late summer. I speak five languages, French, Creole, Lithuanian, German, a little Russian and Spanish, with a sprinking of Portuguese and Japanese thrown in (now Morris Diamond is turning over in HIS grave). I miss everyone I knew in Riverhead, for those truly were special times.
I love you all.
