Matthew's Story

Life Well, Pink Floyd wasn’t kidding “and then 1 day you’ll find, 10 years have got behind you.¨ Except, it’s been 20+ years!!! Where has the time gone? It waits for no one, that’s for sure. Life for me? I’ve been fortunate to live a very interesting life. If I died today, it will have been a very full life. I was on the US Karate Team for nearly 10 years, was a member of the first USA Karate Team to train at the US Olympic Training Center in 1989 in Colorado Springs, CO. That same year I won a gold medal at the Pan American Karate Championships in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and then fought at the World Cup in Budapest, Hungary. Of course, I was in Budapest during their 500k person civil revolution, and I totally missed it!! Those of you who know me are not a bit surprised at that!!;) I played professional blackjack for several years, 1994 to 1998 part time, then 1998 to 2000 full time, all for a high stakes blackjack team. Kicked-out of every major casino i...Expand for more
n the US, and some more than once;), I retired in 2000, and haven’t stepped foot in a casino since. I’ve worked for a defense contractor for 10 years, and that’s been pretty fun, for a job;);) I manage their financial reporting regulatory compliance, and other sundry finance stuff. I also raise and show champion English Mastiffs, and also do therapy work with my dogs. I take them to assisted living facilities for Alzheimer patients, the residents really love and appreciate the dogs. We also recently started a reading program where I take my dog to the public library, as well as elementary and middle schools so the kids can read to him. That’s very cool. You can see our dogs by doing a web search on Gunslinger Mastiffs, and that’ll take you right to them. I live on an old farmette in an old stone farmhouse ¡V circa, 1883, on 2&1/2 acres in Northeastern Bucks County, near Lake Nockamixon. Life is good, very good, and I hope you all are doing well also.
