Matthew's Story

Life Well, who'd have thought I'd be on here?? HUH?? "The Wild Boy" Matthew Cain is ALIVE AND WELL!! How bout it?? Well, whatz up in the Wild Side? Well, I'm now concentrating on playing music as of now (I play bass, by the way). And oh yeah, I do play metal/alt/rock. What can I say? Itz in my blood! HAHA I had different careet paths since graduation. I went to Shelby State (now Southwest TN Community College) for one semester, only to drop out cuz I damn near hated it. I later wound up at Memphis Area Vo-Tech, majoring in printing and bindery. I would stay in the printing and bindery business from 1993 up until 2001. I hadda leave the biz cuz I had trouble figuring out different shades of colors, such as red, blue, green, etc. Thatz when the ol' Wild Boy went into the hotel biz. I worked in the hotel biz from 2001 up until 2006. I haven't completely given up the hotel biz altogether, just taking a break from it and doing something else so I can have something to fall back on in later years. I am currently an assistant termite tech for Cook's Pest Control here in Memphis. I also lived in a few different places since the old days. Of course, my heart and soul to this day belongs right here in M-Town. I lived in Southaven, MS for about a year (1996-97) and even moved to Milton, FL (30 miles east of Pensacola) for two years (1999-2001). I been living back here in Memphis now since 2001. I still use the "Wild Boy" nickname to this day, although I don't use it as much as I used to. Back one day while down in Florida in 2000, I created a character on a game that I nicknamed "The Mysfit." Somehow, someway (possibly by accident, I dunno), I adopted the nickname for myself, and am still using that nickname to this day. If any of you screwballs are on MySpace, hit me up! I'm also on Facebook. You can find me there, as well! I'm hoping to hear from some of you SHS rejects! HIT THE OL' WILD BOY UP!!!!!!! School MY BIGGEST CRUSH: Hell, I don't think I ever had one. If I did, I don't remember it. Besides, back in the day, I wouldn't be caught dead dating a girl from the same school I went to. THE TEACHER WHO INSPIRED ME THE MOST: It was Ms. Ogles, believe it or not. She was actually the first person in the world who's been able to get inside my head and sort out all the bad things, PLUS dust off a few cobwebs in there. Because we got along so well, half the 7th grade class thought we were mother and son. (NOT HARDLY! *LOL*) Now, the ...Expand for more
big question: WOULD I DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, IF I COULD? The answer: HELL YEAH! But I would have to make several changes, though. I'd have to rely on my "who the hell cares" attitude, or as I call it now, my "F-U-F-ME-2" (don't ask, itz a long story) attitude. I also would've brought out the darker side of me that no one's ever got to see. WHAT DO I REMEMBER MOST? I mainly remember my second year in the 9th grade, when I started getting half the 7th grade girls chasing me. *LOL* They been chasing me from then on until I graduated. *LOL* I also remember coming outta my shell as The Wild Boy, and wearing that famous jacket with the 50+ buttons on it from my 10th grade year to the time I graduated. (YOU GUYZ REMEMBER THAT JACKET, RIGHT??) My biggest regret was getting rid of it near the end of my senior year. The only moment I wished I did not have to remember was when my best friend Jimmy Garrett (he went to Hernando High School) died in a car accident on March 29, 1991. But most of all, I remember all the friends I made, especially those in my ROTC unit. How can I forget them?! College After high school I took a year off and decided to work full time. I finally went to school at Southwest TN Community College (then Shelby State) from Sept-Dec 1992. I decided that after that one semester, I wasn't happy there. So I went to TN Technology Center at Memphis (then Memphis Area Vo-Tech) in 1993, where I majored in offset printing/bindery and ended up graduating from with a diploma in 1994. I haven't been back to school since, and I don't care to! Workplace Work life was just that: LIFE. In 1992, after graduating high school, I wound up working at what WAS Piggly Wiggly on Summer Ave (it ain't there no more) for almost a year. After dealing with college and vo-tech, I landed my first job as a co-op at International Paper on Poplar Ave from 1994-95 in the bindery department. FYI--the vo-tech I went to offered me the job thru job placement. From 1995 thru 1998, I spent two and a half years at Lithograph Printing Company in their bindery department. My hours were the graveyard shift, which actually sucks in some ways. Since then, I just took small jobs at different places, even while living in Milton, FL (near Pensacola) from 1999-2001. When I came home, I ended up in the hotel business, and I've been doing since. Military I hate to tell ya, but I never went to the military. I was planning on going into the Army, but I couldn't meet the requirements.
