Maura's Story

After college I worked for a short while at an orphanage in Mexico. Later I went to graduate school, working on an artificial heart and then in metallurgy, breeder reactor fuel, and thermal hydraulics. When I had a baby, I quit to raise her and stayed home 20 years, volunte...Expand for more
ering at her schools and taking fun classes like stitchery and cake decorating. When the nest was empty, I started working as a technical writer at a national research laboratory. My husband and I have been married nearly 30 years. He is an engineer at a nuclear power plant.
