Maureen's Story
After graduating from UCR and getting my teacher's license, I taught in California for one year. Then I married and moved to Chicago and onto Denver, Colorado, where I still reside. I spent 30+ years teaching elementary grades (mostly 2nd, 3rd, & 4th) and became a National Board Certified Teacher in all 50 states. For the past decade I have been an adjunct professor at University of Denver, teaching Elementary Literacy to post graduate candidates seeking their teacher's license in Colorado. I have one son, who lives in Ft. Collins, Colorado during the summer, and St. John, Virgin Islands the rest of the year. My husband, Jim, and I enjoy traveling abroad, sometimes chaperoning groups of students on trips to Europe or South America. We just got back from Peru and are currently planning our next trip to Italy. Jim and I enjoy swing dancing, especially Lindy Hop, and ballroom dancing as well. We love living in Colorado, where we like to escape to the mountains to hike and camp out.
