Maureen's Story
After High School, I went to Napa College, off and on, had several different kinds of jobs including Alzheimer patient care, bottling lines, Cornucopia Produce Market, painter, child care. In '81 I became a Medical Assistant. All I wanted to do was take care of kids, preferably my own. I just wanted everyone to shut-up until the time I could do that. I got married in 1986. I had Amy, my first beautiful baby daughter, 8-6-87. Then Shelly, my second beautiful baby girl, 8-10-89. Divorced in 1995. Opened my Day Care Home! I could be home for my daughters, be around people I loved, and make $. Worked my tail off. y to spend my time. But, enough is enough. Ten years, and a couple more years of part-timers was just enough. Oh, yeah, I was re-married 11 years ago. My daughters are grown, Amy is on her own, Shelly is back home and attending college. I'm so happy she's back! I get to put off The Empty Nest Syndrome for a while. Now, I'm trying to be my own boss. I make these things that I think are really cool. It's a texture technique I made up and the end result resembles snake skin. I do it on wooden picture frames, and have been experimenting on small table tops, wooden boxes, whatever else that is made of wood. Working on my inventory, process doesn't set up well in the wet, damp, cold weather. More info to come on that subject.
