Maureen's Story
Life
Well I wish I could say it's been a bed of roses but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger right? lol. I can honestly say that I've experienced a lot of things in my life. The good things? My husband Rob who means everything to me. My job is another. I love what I do and not everyone can say that. I got my first drafting job a month out of high school and never looked back. Was hired into General Motors at the age of 19 and would still be there if I hadn't been working for the Delphi Division on GM. Still, my husband and I earn a nice living and I can't complain. We built our first house together in 2005 and are still enjoying it. I can say that I didn't completely loose touch with everyone, I still talk to my friend Laura Rosing. d to go back to school when I was 32, got an associate's in Vehicle Design in 2004 and a Bachelors in Business Admin in 2006. Sounds great right? It is, really, except for a diagnosis of breast cancer in Nov 2005. It was caught fairly early but not early enough for me to avoid surgery and chemo, which I can't say was much fun. But I survived and am on the mend and feeling pretty good these days. I don't know what more the future holds for me, but I'm loving every day and living it to the fullest.
*Latest- I am proud to say that myself and 3 other women are bringing support to the Metro Detroit Area to women 40 and under who are surviving breast cancer. We have started a Detroit Community Volunteer Group and have high hopes to be a Chapter in the near future.
