Maureen's Story
I'm a retired sled dog racing kennel owner, Chain Gang Kennel, living in Wasilla, AK. It's winter and we are covered in snow. I was born in LA but raised in AR, KS, MO, back to LA for Inglewood High School, then into the work world and marriage in CO, NE, AZ, NM, WY, AK. Back and forth to CO and CA a few times. Six children of mine joined with second husband Bob's 2 made 8 children. We did a lot of state to state traveling with the children.
After they were grown and raising their families or gone to college, we
moved to AK when Bob was presented with a job opportunity we couldn't resist. The move was a traumatic separation from family in the lower 48, but exciting to be on a new adventure. Our dog yard grew to 72 of ou...Expand for more
r own, many sprint dogs boarding, and a wolf haven, Wolves of Bear Meadow. Hubby ran the Iditarod Sled Dog Race 3 times. Now we plan to travel and look forward to his retirement.
Many students won't remember me because I ditched most of the time and worked evenings & weekends at a local theatre.
Too much to tell in one story. Living in AK now for 23 years. Involved in dog mushing, retired from our own kennel and racing. Doing a bit of USA traveling and I am a member of the TTP and active in a small way. Make jewelry which I wear and might put
in the market place in the future.
I always wanted to be a good person when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were half right.
