Mavis's Story
Life
Hi everyone,
My husband, 16-yr. old daughter and I have returned to the Portland area after spending 4 yrs. in Spokane. Oh, yes, I mustn't forget to mention our monstrous 7-lb. long-haired Chihuahua. He's a lover, but Lord what a barker. Anyway, we are glad to be back in Oregon!
Both moves were job related for my husband who is now a manager in the Beaverton office for ADT (think burglar and fire alarms, etc.). I haven't worked much since leaving the City of Gresham where I was a Human Resources Analyst for 10 yrs. Now I am unable to work because of Multiple Schlerosis, but I can still type with one hand and yak on the phone!!
My three step-sons are all married now, and have given us 9 grandch...Expand for more
ildren. I always picture my little silver-haired grandma in her houise dresses and aprons -- I just don't feel like a grandmother.
My daughter is 25 and living, working, and going to college in southern California. She plans to move back here next spring or summer. I can't wait. She is truly the joy of my life!
Our other daughter is a bit more of a challenge, as any of you who have raised teen-age daughters will understand. Right now, we're just trying to survive, but we know "this, too, shall pass".
Well, we'll be having another reunion in a couple of years. I have enjoyed every one I've gone to. I look forward to seeing many of you at the next one, and would love to hear from you in the meantime.
