Max's Story
I am living and working in Yakima County, Washington. Life is good. I arrived here in 1979 to start a new job. This was a tremendous change from life and times in Pasadena, California. I spent the first two weeks wondering what I had done to myself. With time I came to love it here and call Yakima my home. I have lived in the same house longer here than anywhere else. I have a very rewarding job as a deputy sheriff here running a precinct and a rather large area of ground. I have done most of what a cop of 30 years could do. I have no regrets. I married a local farmers daughter and promptly by marrage got related to a rather large section of the local population (so much for writing tickets with impunity, I get to hear about them at Thanksgiving get togethers now). even taught adjunct at the local college. This has been a career and move that I would do over all the same again. I am a lucky guy. My wife is a nurse and has two grown children (two grand children too). Both families are doing great. We share the house with a cat (or it shares the house with us). The cat L.C. (little now large cat) is the second stray that came to stay. The first stray J.J. passed after 18 years of great comanionship. In my spare time I enjoy reading and old movies. I drive the 66 Ford Mustang convertable I learned to drive in, and got my license in. I also have a Jeep Wrangler and hit the trails in the Cascade Mountains and explore. My experience with that is it is a great place to take a picknick lunch and a textbook to study for a test. The view really makes one humble. In a phrase, "Life is Good!"
