Maxine's Story
Life
Gee, write a bio....what can I say? Life's good. As I write this (12/04), my first year of retirement is coming to a close. Don't let anybody kid you - retirement is a wonderful thing. I spent 27 years with the State of CA, most of that time with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs working on the Cal-Vet Loan Program. I did property appraisals, loan analysis and underwriting for almost ten years, then moved into marketing. That was fun - we taught classes, worked trade shows, wrote promotional pieces of all types, gave presentations to various groups, etc. Then I transferred to the CA Energy Commission, and spent the last five years of my career doing consumer education.
I've been married for the past 26 years to a wonderful man, who is also now retired. He was a wildlife biologist with the Dept. of Fish and Game, so he captured and relocate...Expand for more
d animals, did census activities on all kinds of upland game, reviewed Environmental Impact Reports, and worked with government agencies on various projects.
Probably our biggest passion is scuba diving, and we've traveled all over the world to some pretty strange places to indulge ourselves. Currently, we are planning on moving to Florida in the summer of 2005. We like the weather, and the diving is great in some of the Keys. We don't do cold water diving anymore - gave it up years ago - so we're seeking a warmer ocean.
At present we have three cats. That may sound like a lot of animals, but actually its an improvement. We used to live in the country, and then we had three dogs and four cats! We don't have children, but are godparents to Shirley Townsend's son (if you remember her), and he and his wife are about to make us all grandparents.
