Mayra's Story
Jan2009: I love running in races. Got my first 1st place medal in Oct2008. This year I will be running about four (4) half marathons (13.1miles) and the BIG ONE marathon in October (26.2miles). My plan...under 5 hours for the biggy! Currently, my weekly training runs are about 30+ a week and will increase. Ahh, and I love the gym and cycling. LOVE TAKING PHOTOS AND MAKING VIDEOS. Hubby calls me the "camera hog" -- all in fun of course! I am also a big volunteer freak and I have met so many wonderful folks. I say, *Give your time to help others who are less fortunate.* In addition, I've done a triathlon and am now a running coach which is very rewarding :-)
Aug2005: married my 2nd hubby who's a nut. He keeps everyone ROTFL. He loves life -- life if good. Honeymooned a 2-week cruise to Europe -- a breathtaking piece of my life. With him I am blessed with 3 great kids (now 18, 24, and 26) and of course my own son from my first hubby (bless him)! My baby pie was born Aug1990 and now 21 and climbing the ladder at his full-time job in such a short time. My 2nd son, 18 (from 2nd hubby) is an athlete (football player & wrestler) and always takes initiative -- even studying! He'll be going to a VA college in Sept. B.S. in Psychology and working in Chicago. Every weekend hubby and I go on a date and we LOVE to eat out! Aside from his wackiness, one of the things that amazes me about my hubby is that he GIVES and GIVES. On several occasions, he has given a few hundred dollars to day laborers who wait to be picked up for work. Another time he gave $300 to a group of them -- it was a spur of the moment thing. When he told me, I cried NOT because he gave it away but because it would feed their families. He has inspired me to do the same. What a great feeling!!! Other instances of my husband, *Excuse me miss, you UNDER charged us by $64*, AND *Wait, you did not charge me enough*. Can anyone ask for a more honest husband than that???
1987 to 2002: married my first hubby. In 1988 we bought our first home (me still there). Besides one of my most memorable times, a 2-week honeymoon in the islands of Hawaii, we had a beautiful healthy boy. Though he is now a young adult, he is still my munchkin pie!
In high school I was a quiet little thing but I've opened up big time over the years. Today, I take the initiative to seek folks and have made many friends. I'm the one initiating "hello" in the hallway, grocery store, etc. Yep, I know...that's a one-eighty compared to in h.s., 🤣
