Beverly's Story
July 2011
DISCLOSURE: I never thought I'd join a social networking group, but I finally got curious about how people are doing & decided to break down. I have to say it's been fun seeing how other peoples' lives have unfolded.
I haven't really kept in contact with people from high school, except a small handful here & there. Though I worked hard not to let it show, I felt like a real misfit, like I didn't quite fit in with any particular group. I do, however, have very fond memories of many people, some of whom I went to grammar school & middle school with, as well as high school - there are some people I still hold very dear in my heart..
I'm not sure what else to say here, so I'm just going to write some things down as they come to me...
I thought i would become an actress or a singer - I never did either of these things to make a living.
I should have gone back to school to become a cultural anthropologist or a psychologist - I never did.
In '88 I married a wonderful man from Egypt. Cross cultural marriages are TOUGH, but in my case it turned out to be worth it.
I've always lived in the Bay Area, but I've traveled a bit - Egypt, Italy, Ireland, England, Germany, France, Canada, Jamaica...loved every minute of every trip (well - almost!).
One of my favorite places on earth is Point L...Expand for more
obos (Carmel area).
I LOVE being on sail boats, fishing boats, yachts - if it has to do with the ocean, I'll be there.
I've even been in a shark cage in Hawaii; couldn't get anyone to join me (?!). It was absoluetey thrilling!
I LOVE MY IPOD!!!!
I always read A LOT; now I listen to audiobooks too.
I LOVE MY IPOD!!!!
From the Story Wizard:
How do you hope old friends remember you?
As interesting, kind & compassionate. Hopefully not as tortured & insecure as I felt.
What's the wildest thing you ever did in school?
Set up the cast of "The Crucible" with a couple of friends (who shall remain nameless) to scare them to death during a hunt at night in an orchard for an escaped lunatic - in costume after a dress rehearsal. At some point in the evening the police were called & had to contend with a bunch of teenagers dressed in 17th century pilgrim garb.
Do you have a hero?
Harriet Tubman has been my heroine since the third grade when I read a child's biography about her. I greatly admired her courage & desire to help others; I wanted very much to be like her.
Which teacher would you love to see again? Why?
Mr. Guadio, Mr. Hedberg, Miss Murphy, Mr. Rice & Mrs. Deffenbaugh. While I didn't know it at the time, things I learned in their classes impressed me & stuck with me for years.
