Jeanette's Story
Life
After high school worked as banquet coordinator at Airporter Inn Hotel (now the Atrium Hotel),located across from the Orange County Airport, for 5 years, then onto the Electronics industry (16 yrs at Hewlett-Packard, then 8 yrs as Exec. Asst. to VP of Operations/Supply Chain Mgmt at Rockwell Semiconductor/Conexant). Spent 2 years as Office Mgr. for Douglas Barnhart Construction firm (hated it!) so I retired, got REAL bored with nothing to do so worked 2 years as Volunteer for South County Outreach to founder and Exec. Director handling Grants and helped create Low Income Housing Coalition (yup, the Disneyland housing issue is part of our coalition campaign). After so much work and no fun I decided to find REAL happiness for myself so I took a part-time job at Build-A-Bear Workshop where I interact with happy children (my biggest joy in life right now). My husband, Mel Patterson, is a retired exec. (Director of Programs) from Rockwell where we both worked and he spends his time playing golf and taking long walks on the beach when we're not traveling, and tracing his family's geneology.
We recently took a trip to the UK and Germany to trace his family lineage, (I encountered a REAL ghost!) and have spent time...Expand for more
with Yvonne and her husband Ken at their condo in Hawaii this past year.
I really don't do much more; I look forward to my once-a-month babysitting weekends with my two princesses (Helen and Diana) so we can have dress-up tea parties and go on special outings together to the "Pony Park" (Irvine) or Wild Rivers. We're going to Australia for the 3rd time during Xmas to spend time with Ali's folks, who live in Glen Innes (8 hours north of Sydney)...we LOVE it there!
I'm "finally" blessed to have a third grand-baby boy ("Prince" Westley Robert Patterson, who was born May 24, 2008 from my one and only son Jeremy and his wife Jess of 2 1/2 years. Life can't get any better than this for me! The sad part of this news is that my son was transferred by his company to Raleigh, NC so I will only be able to spoil my new grandson once a year at best (shucks oh darn!), but we purchased webcams so I get to SKYPE once a week to see him grow. However, I continue to have fun every day doting on little ones at Build-A-Bear Workshop so my heart continues to feel joy daily. Stop by to visit me at the Mission Viejo Mall. I usually work there Mondays-Thursdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Would love to see some of my BPHS classmates!
