Melanie's Story

Life Hey everyone. I am divorced and the mother of 5 girls. My first daughter is Heather, graduated from Vestavia High School and Ole Miss and is married to Jacob Ray of McComb, Mississippi who is a lawyer. They live in Jackson, MS. Heather is a drug rep. and doing very well in that field. Second daughter is Kim married to her childhood sweetheart Chris Guest, both of whom graduated from Vestavia High and from University of Alabama. (Roll Tide). Kim was a 6th grade teacher and cheerleader sponser at Homewood Middle School until they had a baby and now Kim is a stay at home Mom with their 1st baby, Ella Claire Guest. She will be 1 yr old February 22, 2009. Lindsay is my third daughter, 4th grade teacher in Tuscaloosa, graduate of University of Alabama. (Roll Tide again). Lindsay is married to a great guy, Shane Kilgore who has two precious daughters, Kate and Manon. Emily is #4 daughter. She is a Senior at Vestavia High School. Probably will go to Ole Miss or Alabama. The caboose is Sarah, #5. She is a Sophomore at Vestavia High School and is in to Show Choir and Theatre. I am a surgical nurse at Brookwood Medical Center, Women's Operating Room. I do genealogy research and travel whenever I get a chance. I have met so many people from all over the country doing the genealogy stuff. We have a dog named Marmaduke, Mar Mar for short. He is part golden retriever and part "anybody's guess". He was a pound puppy that someone had abandoned and we were lucky enough to get him...Expand for more
when he was 6 weeks old. We have a kitten named Delilah who is more curious than any child I have. This year of 2007 has been difficult. My dad died in January and my brother, Homer died in April. They both were ill. My sister, Laura, lives across the street with her son, Wesley. My brother Billy, lives in Pelham with his wife and 3 kids. Billy works for parks and rec in Pelham. All this is probably very boring for most of you. Would love to get as many as we can to get a reunion going. Email each other and me if you are interested in getting a reunion together on short notice. Would love to hear from others. Melanie Crandall If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have coffee, friends, and money to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My dad was my hero. He passed away 2 years ago but I still have him in my mind giving me advice Traveling and doing genealogy research is my way to relax I have been in touch with Mrs. Lovoy since my child has her as a teacher. It's been alot of fun seeing her and I am so glad she is their teacher. If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to Alzheimer's Research, then spend the rest on children, grandchildren and a small nest egg for myself. I lived in a dorm at University of Montevallo for 2 years. I was a Chi Omega. Campus life was fun and taught me to be an adult I would be living at the beach with all my children, son in laws, sister and her son and my mom. In 10 years, I hope to be retired. I'm going to get there by getting old.
