Melanie's Story
I can't believe it has been 20 years! I am so excited to see everyone at the reunion.
After graduation, I went to the University of North Carolina. I married my college sweetheart and 5 years later got a divorce.
I came back to Connecticut to take care of my father before he passed away and remembered how much I missed it up here. I loved being close to my family and friends. 2000, I met the love of my life here, Jason, who is my best friend. In 2004, I opened Great Beginnings Preschool for my neice Danielle, so she could have a great preschool experience, and so that I could get to see her everyday. In 2005, the other love of my life was born, my son Billy. He is a beautiful boy with red hair and big blue eyes, and a smile to die for. Unfortunately Billy had a stroke at birth ...Expand for more
and has cerebral palsy. He is disabled, and it took a long time to get used to the fact that we just aren't sure what the rest of his life will be like. It took a lot of praying and a wonderful family to get through it, but I focus now on making sure that he gets the best possible care, and that he can have as fulfilled life as possible. The doctors were pleasantly surprised when Billy started walking after his second birthday and I have faith more miracles will come.
When I am not playing with the children at the preschool, Jason, Billy and I like to take our dog for walks, playing on the beach and we spend time with family. Life has been good: it hands out some good surprises and some tough surprises and I am thankful everyday for the blessings in my life.
