My Pets
I retired from medicine. I practiced as a child psychiatrist until 2006. I got disillusioned with medicine and this patients looking for quick fixes with just taking medications for their ailments--not wanting to have to change their lives to actually become healthy. I live in Phoenix, AZ with my 6 standard poodles, 4 rabbits, 4 bearded dragons, and 20 leopard geckoes. I raise standard poodles for becoming therapy dogs. I was married for 15 years and wasn't given human children in this life. I guess my role was to help take care of other people's children. I enjoy sewing, arts and crafts of all sorts, reading, running. meditation, yoga, vegan cooking, dow hill skiing, playing with my dogs, hiking in Arizona, scuba diving, travel, (although I don't get to travel much anymore), organic gardening, and painting. I am a certified Kundalini yoga teacher. I continued to dance up until about5 years ago. or to study medical anthropology. I want to start writing a novel about spiritual issues--almost a parable and a cookbook of low fat, vegetarian Cajun cooking. I am grateful that I had such an incredible education at Riverdale. I didn't realize what a gift it was at the time. At the time, I sometimes resented going to an all girls' school. Now, I know that it forever changed my ideas about being a powerful, confident woman. Very few people at the time we were in high school were given such a deep and broad education, even at exclusive private schools.We were taught how to think and reason which I took for granted while I was at Riverdale. Now, it would be nearly impossible to find such a curriculum or such dedicated and extremely talented teachers. I learned very little in college at LSU because we had been so well taught in high school. I really didn't start learning new things until medical school at LSUMC in Shreveport. My education at Riverdale was an incredible gift that continues to inspire me daily.
