Melinda's Story
I'm one of those people who didn't stay in touch. I lived in Oak View and after business school I went to work. Jesse Sutton and I married in 1972 and had two children. We divorced in 1977 and unfortunately Jess was killed in an industrial accident in around 1980. I had moved to Oakhurst California near Yosemite and lived there many years. I moved to the Northwest in 1992 after the death of my youngest daughter Lenna. I moved up to Washington to be with my oldest daughter Gennafer. She was devastated by her sister's death and we needed to re-unite as a family. I married once more and had a son. He's my youngest and has just returned from Iraq after being wounded there. ot too serious, thank goodness, and he is doing fine. He married his girlfriend of about five years. I now live right on the Columbia River in a small town named Rainier, Oregon. I have come to love Oregon (it took awhile, I'm definitely a sand and surf type person) but Oregon grows on you. I say it's where all us old hippies come to die. I haven't returned to Ventura very often but I sure miss it!
I'm still working. I work with a federally funded program that places low income seniors on a training program to get them back in the workforce. I cover all of Columbia County up here in Oregon.
Well if we have a 50 year re-union and I'm still on the planet I sure like an invite!
