Melissa's Story

Married My first love while in high school (10th grade) and been married to him for 26 + years..we have 4 children together, Travis 24 married to Betsy, Cierra 19 who is married to Cj, Celina 7 years old and Sophie 5 years old..Yes we started our family over again, lol NOPE not grandparents yet..still busy bein parents..lol Welp.. I decided to write a little book about me and mine...so if your bored here ya go... We will rewind.. soon after we was married on April 2, 1983 to our surprise we found out we was going to have our first baby! Boy! was I scared! I was only 16! After I was about 4 months I went for an ulrasound and another big shock! I was having TWINS! Oh my! just like my grandmother, she had twins too! I knew there was something odd because I had somewhat of a double hump on my belly that only I could see and I was gaining weight fast! so these things were justified then..lol In my second ultrasound the nurse thought we were having girls..so the whole time we bought girl things..well...on January 29th,1984 I went into early labor..seven weeks early! one baby did not turn causing me to have to go in for a c-section..little did I know I would continue with my others with the same type of delivery..so my experiences were ALL pretty good! With my twins however I got very sick and could have died, I was told later..I was out of it for 2 days after my surgery..by then I was so excited but to my surprise we had 2 boys! Travis and Christopher, they was so small, only 3 1/2 pounds each! They spent 2 weeks in the hospital before they could come home. wow! Gave us time to exchange all the girl stuff for boy stuff,lol..I adjusted very well to having 2 babies! My mom was such a support for me..we were soooo happy! Fast forward 4 months: 1984, Our son Christopher had to have "minor" surgery due to 2 hernias..he came out of surgery well and recovered at home..one morning when the twins were 4 1/2 months old I woke up one morning on June 15, 1984 (fathers day of course) as normal getting my husband off to work and then getting ready to feed and change the boys as I did every morning..I went to wake up Christopher and he did not move..I tried to pick him up and he was not breathing and his little body was stiff..to my horror my son was dead...Travis awoke and started to cry as I screamed and ran to the neighbors to call for help as we didn't have a phone at this point..It was like a terrible nightmare!! After the funeral, which was a blur.. when we became a little clearer in our thoughts we ordered the surgery reports, to see why our baby died..and it is then we find out the surgeon made a mistake during surgery.. he mistakenly cut our sons bowel and sewed it up, he never told us this..we were so angry..it took a long time to get over this..but it did help us get closure and proof that this was the cause of his death..we nearly took the doctor to the cleaners but at this time we were unable and unwilling to have his little body returned up for an autopsy..many years after, we really regreted not doing that..but now with time passed we have closure and had put it in Gods hands. Needless to say Dr Dimler stopped practising in Johnson City soon after they found out we had a lawyer..Our Christopher for some reason only God knows di...Expand for more
ed in the night..I thought I would never survive and my marriage almost crumbled in months to follow because of our loss, but with God there we overcame our near divorce and grew stronger..if this wasn't enough....6 months after we lost our baby boy, our Travis got sick with salmanila from the milk, later we were told. He was hospitalized for 1 week and we thought we was going to lose him as well..Travis wore a heart monitor for MY peace of mind for 2 years..it took me many years to STOP checking my husband and son during their sleep to see if they was breathing...it truly made me paranoid. But with alot of prayer I overcame it. When Travis was 5 years old we had our baby girl Cierra! she was our little princess ..we sooo wanted..now we have our girl and our boy! I prayed God would give Cierra all the traits and manerisms that Christopher would have had if we had got to keep him..and I really believe He answered my prayer... Cierra is easy going and is complete oposite from Trav and I knew he and Christopher was..Christoper was the quite one and Trav wanted to always be heard..still that way today..LOL Today our Travis and Cierra are ole married folks as of last year they married some great people, Cierra married her second boyfriend and Travis married his second girlfriend and they both own there own house..and they are doing so well! Im super proud of them! Our 2 littlest girls are a handful and the greatest thing about having 2 grown and 2 little...we always have baby sitters! The girls love to go stay with there big sis! She is like a second Mom to them and always has been! Back up a little..again.. I didn't graduate, however I did earn my diploma and then also earned an associates degree in the nursing field which I havn't done for 19 years, just wasn't what I wanted to do at that point in my life...in 1999 I worked at the mall at Johnson City for a year as a Security officer, I became supervisor over the security department and this was an experience I truly loved. I almost kept this line of work in my life as I almost went to work for the county sheriffs office, but I came up with a better plan for us and that was more important, our 2 youngest girlies.. I moved on to staying at home and planning our youngest girls, Celina and Sophie..when I was pregnant with Celina during the first 5 months I worked for Fingerhut call center in boones creek..then I retired to raise my girl,Celina and soon after we planned our second baby girl ..about 2 years later to be exact, I had Sophia...it turned out perfect because before we ever got pregnant in this second round, I said to my husband "I want 2 little girls" and so we did! God has blessed us very much! I have a wonderful Husband and the best children! I homeschooled Cierra from the 6th grade and she consiquently graduated and married Dec 2007. I currently homeschool my girls..I truly love doing this we spend every waking hour together and I wouldn't have it any other way..No offense to anyone but I NEVER liked the school system..I just wished I knew about homeschooling earlier and I would have done homeschooling alot earlier with my oldest... I highly recommend it!! its so much better than public school! I have a myspace..please check me out.. my user name is melissalovesthelord
