Melissa's Story
Life
I've raised four (4) beautiful children. I've experienced a lot
in my few short years :-) Life is great!!! Right now I'm kicked
back taking it easy for the (Brrr) winter months. I moved back to
Montana in 1986 and while it's isolated...that's what I love about
it. Lots of relatives here on the Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux
Reservation, more than you can keep track of. Every day is like
a family reunion (LoL) My husband is an Environmental Health
Technician/Safety Officer for a federal facility here and I am
in the legal field practicing Indian Law. Life has been good to
me as I hope it has for all of you. My oldest daughter is pursuing her Bachelor of Science, Registered Nurse Degree; Oldest son and his wife just made me a Grandmother; Youngest son and daughter in high school and junior high respectively. I enjoy volunteer work, decorating, reading, writing, beading and being with family. Get in touch and email me
School
Ms. Strosnider, Ms. Lande and Mr. Barger had a huge impact on my life and were major influences whether they realize it or not...Positive, of course. I really enjoyed the Horticulture and Ag competitions with
Kim Fucshia ...Expand for more
and Joe Wittstock--where are you two??? I still remember the student smoke-out/walk-out we staged, the news reporters, the television news helicopters, etc...are you all still smokin'?
I wish I was lucky enough to do high school all over again 'cuz I'd do it!!! Peace and Love.
College
I did receive several degrees and it wasn't easy. I have AAS in Business Administration w/emphasis on government; AA in Native American Studies and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business!!! Imagine that! Right now, I'm planning to begin in January to complete an MBA...wish me luck :)
Peace and love to all...
Workplace
I have been fortunate to be on the cutting edge of Presidential
Initiatives, State Legislative Initiatives, you name it! Received
a Governor's appointment to the first joint Tribal State Economic
Development Commission; implemented national projects in my reservation
community; Research in health field; lucrative legal practice for
16 years to always resort back to; worked with grass roots organizations
and provided legal assistance for many non-profit Treaty organizations;
Life is good and always full of excitement and adventure.
