Melissa's Story
Life
I have been married since 1988 to a great guy, Derek Hagedorn (also from Simi, but not Simi High). We have two sons, Vincent who is now 19 and will be returning from spending a year in Germany soon, and Patrick who is 16 and into competitive karate. We are living in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Derek retired from the Air Force in September 2001 and now works for Boeing Aerospace on the base he retired from. It was a great ride!! placed here on the east coast. I am a teacher for the Deaf and hard of hearing as well as an interpreter. I love the kids and staff I work with at a small country high school that Patrick attends. My father has remarried and moved to Dallas TX. My mother passed away in 1994 and my sister, Melynda (Lyn- class of 1988) passed away in 2002. Since my dad moved, we haven't been back to Simi and that is just fine with us. We prefer to live on the East Coast with its slower pace of life, unique customs and the beautiful Atlantic only a short drive away.
