Melissa's Story
Hello There,
After high school I went to college in Illinois and stayed there (except living in Nashville, TN for a year) until 2000. I taught public speaking at Olivet Nazarene University for 11 years (funny, because I hated to speak in public). I also taught jazzercise/aerobics for about 20 years?
My dad died in 1999 and I really wanted to be in Michigan near my mom. My husband got a job at Byron Center High School and now I'm teaching English there. I've met some former classmates there and had some nieces and nephews of 78 grads.
We have 5 children ("inherited" the 5th one after a family member was unable to take care of her--so it's been a bit ...Expand for more
of a challenge. )-- As I was sending a son and daughter to college, I had a preschooler again. Two years ago we had a college graduate, a high school graduate, an eighth grade graduate and a kindergarten graduate. Last summer our daughter got married in GR, then my son got married 2 weeks later in Seattle.
We're involved in our church (High Pointe Community in Byron Center) where my brother is the pastor. It's been nice living near my family again...my sister lives 6 houses down with her husband and four children....life is never dull!
