Melissa's Story
After leaving LA Serna I went to Chapman College in Orange California. I got my BA with a split major in religion and psychology. The highlight was fall 1974 which I spent on the World Campus Afloat, traveling around South America, across the Atlantic to Senegal, and then circling the Mediterranean, coming back to Florida the day before Christmas.
Later, I went back to school at Sonoma State University and earned teaching credentials in multiple subjects and special education. I taught severely handicapped children from Sonoma State Development Center for 5 years.

rgraduate math and science classes, and entered a PhD program in Chemistry (Molecular Biology) at the University of Oregon, earning my degree in 1995. I then moved back to southern California and pursued postdoctoral research at the City of Hope, studying the effect of a new drug on normal and leukemic stem and progenitor cells.
After ten years, I needed to get a real job.and moved back to Eugene, Oregon and worked in Technical Support, supporting researchers in flow cytometry instruments and applications at what is now Thermo Fisher Scientific.
I am now RETIRED and enjoying opportunities to travel the world.
