Melissa's Story
9/3/11 - update:
Well kids continue to grow and grow and eventually they leave home. My oldest was married this summer. It's been an amazing summer and experience for me. I'm beginning to see where this whole "MOM" thing is going. They really will leave one at a time, no matter how much I tell them they can live at home while they're paying off student loans. I somehow doubt any of them will be doing that. So the oldest is a senior in college, the 2nd one is a junior in college, the 3rd one is a senior in high school (Yes, 2 graduations to go to next summer), the 4th one is a sophomore in high school (fond memories for me - still wondering what happened to Dean Hamiter.) and the youngest is a freshman. No more elementary or middle school. Oregon is still wonderful and I can't think of a better place to live. I love it here. Looks like traveling will be the next big thing I do in my life though. Haven't heard anything about a reunion for next summer yet but let me know. I can help if you need me. Email me some time. Melissa.

Life
I went to the JC for awhile after graduation and then decided getting away from Santa Rosa was the best idea. So I married a man from Elmolino, who'd joined the Air Force and been sent to England. We got married there. After spending 3 years in England, the Air Force sent us to Texas. In 1990, we became parents. We now have 5 children. We divorced in 1999. My life now revolves around the children. They are the best kids in the world and it was time to find a better life near family. So in 2002, I moved us all to Oregon where my sister Shawna was. Now she has moved and I'm on my own again (so to speak). But life in Oregon is the best ever! We enjoy barbeques with friends and family, long camping trips to the coast, swimming, picking berries and going to the Dollar Theater. My mom is nearby in California and maybe I can make a trip there next summer. Hope all is well with my Piner Classmates.
