Melissa's Story

Melissa Fuller King was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in April of this year. Currently there is no medical cure for this disease and patients have a very poor prognosis. The only way to extend Melissa's life will be a future double lung transplant, the lone cure for this progressive illness. The transplant will take place at the Cleveland Clinic. She will be placed on the OPTN/UNOS national transplant waiting list while she waits for a set of viable donor lungs. Due to time parameters associated with the transplant, Melissa will need to temporarily relocate to Cleveland. Due to her illness Melissa has also been forced to stop working. y on home oxygen and other medications. A benefit will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Parish Center, 950 Losson Rd., Cheektowaga, NY on October 5th from 2-6 PM. The benefit will include pizza, salad, dessert, soft drinks, water, coffee, wine and beer. Tickets are on sale for $20.00 and can be purchased by calling Barb at 668-5386. There will be a basket raffle and 50/50 split run throughout the day. Men, don't worry the Bills game will be televised.
