Melodie's Story
LIFE
After 24 years of teaching, I have recently left the classroom for a position at the Okla. State Department of Education. I have a few months left to retirement and thought I'd work up with the "BIG DOGS" until I retire.
Our oldest is married and living in Kingfisher. She and her husband and 4 beautiful boys that are the apples of "Mimi and Pawpaw's" eyes.
Our youngest daughter just graduated from OSU. She started working on her Master's degree this fall and got married in October. She's an amazing young woman and we are SO proud of her!
After our youngest daughter graduated from high school, Bill (my husband) and I moved from Edmond and purchased one of the OLD historic homes directly south of the capitol. It's quite funny that 5 houses down the block lives one of my friends from High School, Joan (Bethany) Lindley. Small world, isn't it?
SCHOOL
Mrs. Dorothy Fel...Expand for more
tman (5th grade) and Mrs. Annette Myrick were the 2 teachers that inspired and challenged me to be the best I could be. Mrs. Hartman (3rd grade) was my reason for becoming an elementary teacher!
I'm not sure if there is anything I would do any differently as it regards to High School! I enjoyed school!
I remember in 7th grade, our Math teacher, Mr. Morton (I think) had a nervous breakdown (or so we were told). Unfortunately, the school hired a substitute, a little old man, with the name of MR. TINKLE! I now know why I have had more than my share of ornery classes! I am paying for the mischief of my youth! We (as a class) were HORRIBLE to this poor little man, as well as to the Math teacher!
Some of my happiest memories include going to Platt National Park (now Chickasaw National Park), Robber's Cave, and Turner Falls for end-of-year field trips! Those WERE the days!
