Melvin Jones (Dassie's Story

Hello to all my 1965 graduates, Well my story is so long that I will need to condense it for the sake of time and space. After I graduated, I was drafted into the Army, and went to Fort Bragg for basic training for eight weeks, and then went to Fort Eustics in Newport News, Va., where I went for my AIT training six months long, then was sent to Vietnam, for one horrible year. When I returned to the States, I was sent to Fort Knox, Ky., and I served the remainder of my military time there. During my stay at Fort Knox, I got married to a young lady from Weldon, NC, and we had five children from that union. We have two sons and three daughters from our marrjage of twenty seven years. My wife wanted a divorce when I turned fifty years old. It was very painful for me to move on with my life, however I married just six months after the divorce to a devil in disgiuse not knowing she was a husband beater, and I stayed in the marriage for four years too long, but after I had been hospitalized three times from her beating on me, I divorced her. My loneliness intensified to a point where I just decided to be an old man and die, but that was not God's plans for me. I had heard of finding women on the internet, but most of the stories had some negative experiences, and I did not need any more drama in my life. I had dreamed of marrying an Asian woman every since I was very young, but I knew it was only a dream that would never come true. I even prayed to God to bless me with a woman who would love me as much as I would love her, and sometimes you have to be very carefull what you ask God for, because my wife of eight years now is a Chinese lady from China, and this woman loves the ground I walk on, and I have never known true love until I married her in 2003 when I went to China, and lived there for one mont...Expand for more
h after we were married. I worked for various companies before I landed a job with the Federal Government in Norfolk Va. in 1984. I was trained to overhaul and repair airplanes propellers, that the Army had in service at the time period that I was in, and my job with the Government, was with the DOD where I overhauled and repaired all the propellers blades that the Navy fly now, and I was promoted to a Supervisor of the Propeller&Rotor Blades shops. I retired last year in April of 2012, from the Fleet Readiness Center East, US NAVY overhaul and rework facility Cherry Point Marine Base, NC. I live in New Bern, NC on the coast of NC, and since I retired my life has not been the same, I have so much time on my hands, that it seems like retirement may have been a misstake. I always wanted to be a singing star when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea, and as it turned out, they were right. I still sing and play my guitar. I have performed on stage with my first quartet group: The New Bethel Wonders of Knightdale NC, (later chanded the name to "The Mighty Gospelairs" of Raleigh NC). We have performed on stage as a guest group with such great gospel groups as: The Staple Family Singers (this was when the whole family was singing together),, The Five Blind Boys of Ala., and Miss, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Knighting Gales, The Capitol City Five, The Silver Echoes, and many others.. I currently play guitar and sing, for a group out of New Bern, NC named: The New Sensational Messengers. Let me start over and try to remember how my life unfolded from the day I was borned. According to my mother, she said that she knew that I would be very different from the rest of my sibblings: ( Sir Walter Raleigh Jones, Jr., Eligah Jones, Loretta Ann Jones, Deborow Jones, and Janet Geneva Jones.
