Melvin's Story
Life
Retired civilian and military. 29 years active and reserve Army duty as CSM. Volunteer work for Barnstable Police Dept. Musician (Drummer)and have own band Cape Cod Mel-ody Men. Married 54 yrs to Cecile (Langelier)Pauze. 4 adopted children (2 girls-2 boys all w/families 10+ grandchildren) Love Cape Cod and wouldn't move. Belong to Barnstable Newcomers Club as Treasurer and Secretary of their bowling league. Member of Barnstable TRIAD. Just bought ourselves a time share at Palm Beach Shores on Singer Island, Florida in Palm Beach where we plan to go in 2004. Does anyone have anything in that vicinity? We want to enjoy ourselves before we get too old.
School
Took commercial course and worked part time as typist in administration but most active in music in the band and orchestra as a drummer
College
Graduated from Bentley's School of Actg and Finance when it was in Boston in 1951. Then later on went to Bentley College in Waltham graduating with an Associates Degree in Accounting.
Workplace
Started working for Regal Shoe in the factory and warehouse. Worked at Avon Sole and Carl...Expand for more
ing's Ale in office. Back to Regal as assistant to the Cost Acct. Then 17 yrs at United Shoe Machinery. Then 5 yrs at Brockton City Hall as an Assessor. From there to Northrop Corp working on gyroscopes for the military until I had 2 heart attacks but never an operation. Finally 11 yrs at A&P Food store in Osterville as a cashier. Now retired and volunteer at Barnstable Police as a greeter and typing police citations. Continue to play music with my band the Cape Cod Mel-ody Men. Also treasurer for Barnstable Newcomers Club and member of TRIAD and a few other organizations.
Military
Drafted in 1945 and sent to Camp Gordon Ga for Infantry training. During this time WW II ended and given a chance to transfer to Clerk Typist School at Aberdeen Pvg Ground, Maryland. After graduation assigned to Alaska working in Payroll. While there I joined two dance bands (Army and when replacement from US, the Air Force dance band) On discharge stayed in the military in the Reserve for 29 yrs (during that time spending 4 yrs on active duty) retiring as a Command Sergeant Major from the 357th Civil Affairs.
