Merle's Story
Hi to all that open this.
I would have been married for 58 years to my first and only husband Shelton (class 0f 58). He passed away suddenly March 7, 2019. Still trying to take grips with this void in my life.
We have 4 children and 11 grandchildren.
We moved from Kenner in 1979 to the northshore. Our eldest son Shelton III graduated from Bonnabel High the rest of our children two girls and a boy all graduated from Covngton High. They all live withing 10 miles of our house and we see them almost daily.
Shelton retired in 1989 as assistant fire chief for City of Kenner. In 2010 he gave up his maintenance business due to health declining.
Until Katrina I was in the hospitality industry. I was a licensed tourguide, state certified travel professional, and St. Tammany certified. I owned St. Tammany Tours until the hurricane then it was all over. I started driving a school bus mainly for benefits and went back to...Expand for more
my dear love sewing.
Since then I have become a Master Gardener and taken two teacher licensing classes in Huntsville, Al for heirloom and beginner sewing, from the Martha Pullen Company (Sew Beautiful Magazine). When I am not sewing I am usually doing something with or for my grandchildren.
If you ain't got family, you ain't got nothing.
In March of this year my youngest son Scott moved to Lexington, KY to work for Keenland Race Course. He handle the broadcasting. The rest of my children are still around here. My first five grandchildren have finished college and are out on their own. My sith one just started LSU.
On October 25, 2019 I became a great grandmother to my eldest granddaughter and her husband's baby girl Caroline Jane. From this point forward I am going to try to get on with my life and enjoy my Caroline. I am on Facebook if you care to friend me.
Best wishes to you all.
