Merlin's Story
Life
I was in the class of 58.
I have been married to Freddie Goss for 47 years and we have 3 children, all married and we have 2 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.
They all live in our area and involved in the church. We have lived in Savannah since 1973.
We have pastored three churches, one in Dallas, GA for 9 years, then we moved to Savannah to pastor Southside Assembly for 16 years and then pastored the Island Assembly for 14 years. We are now working at Southside where we had pastored 16 before with the seniors, JOY Fellowship (Just Older Youth, 50 and above) which we have been doing now for little over 5 years. We are having a great time.
Fred and I also have our own business as Title Abstractors, searching residental titles for banks and mortgage companies. We have been doing this for about 15 years, even while we were pastoring full time. (A busy life, but enjoyable.) Our children are all working in the church and have wonderful jobs. Freddie and I have good health and plan to work as long as we can.
We would like to take a cruise this year.
I would like for my friends to remember me as a friendly person.
I always dreamed of being a ministers wife and helping him in the ministry when I grew up. My family and friends thought that it could possibly happen. As it turns out, they were right, I did marry a minister.
I have learned from my kids, by showing them love and caring, they will always respect US. They love and respect us today and would do anything for us.
If I won $100 million, I'd give $50 million to the church, then give my children $1 million each. Pay off our home and all our bills. Buy a motor home and travel around visiting our friends that have scattered out into may different states. Take a few cruses and invest the rest to take care of us the rest of our life. I know I'm dreaming, but we never get too old to dream.
I will dream as long as I live.
