Merritt's Story
Well I got married, got divorced early on ( 75-78) Got Married again, got divorced( 81 - 93) Now I am married for the final time to Bonnie. We have been married for 12 years. I got int he wine business in 84 with a wine distributor in Sacramento. From There I went to work for E&J Gallo in Los Angeles in 1986. In 1989, I took a 1 year assignmentin Madison Wisconsin and I have been in the midwest ever since. My ex wife was from Wisconsin, so settling down there was not a problem for her. I have 2 sons from that marriage, but got the divorce in 93 when the boys were 8 and 3. I had many different positions with Gallo but always had Wisconsin has the base to stay close to my sons. I met Bonnie shortly after the divorce ( also from Wisconsin) and we were married in 1996. h Gallo to Regional director, covering MN, CO, ND, SD, KS, UT and WY. To start off 2008, Gallo restructered again and my position was eliminated, so after 22 years, I was out on the Job market. April 28th, I started with a new company doing the same kind of job selling better wines. AV- Brands is owned by a spanish Winery, Codorniu and most of the wine we sell are imports from Spain, Italy, Argentina and Chile, however we own Artesa in Napa and are looking to expand in CA. Who knows, it may get me back to California !. My oldest son Evan is a senior at Madison and my youngest son, Alex graduates from highschool the June. Bonnie and I love boating, golf and travelling. We have been to Italy, Spain, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Australia, along with many trips to Hawaii and Wine country. For you Golf fans, the PGA is at haseltine next year which is a mile from my house, come visit!
