Michael's Story

Anyone who remembers me from HHS will tell you I was the ultimate shy guy. I never could speak to girls - never knew what to say. I had a total crush on Carol M. but could never approach her. I finally had my first date - it was the Senior Prom and I took Marsha S. (I hope she looks back on it with a sense of humor). Anyone besides me remember how foggy it got that night? Anyway, Steve S. in our class and I joined the US Marine Corps 4 months before school got out. We graduated on a Friday if memory serves me and we were on our way to San Diego boot camp the following Monday. The promised to keep us together but that did not happen. I was in school choirs from the 3rd grade through my senior year. Al Jardine approached me approx. 2-3 weeks before the end of school in 1960 and wanted to know if I wanted to join him and some other guys as they were going to start a singing group that summer. Well, I had already joined the Marines so that was a "Sorry, I can't". What choices we make in life. I chose to learn how to kill people and break things ... not knowing I could have been one of the original Beach Boys. What a bummer. Since I graduated, I have been a US Marine (Intelligence work - also tr...Expand for more
ansferred to a Recon outfit for awhile), then I joined the Air Force (also Intelligence work). I have been all over the Pacific area and all over Europe between these 2 jobs. I then became a Private Investigator, Police Officer/Investigator on 2 Police Departments (Chattanooga, TN and Inglewood, CA), Process Server, instructor at the Los Angeles Sheriff's Academy and Bounty Hunter and went back to Inglewood PD to become a Civilian Accident Investigator. Now I'm basically retired. I'm currently making people's day by serving them with Summons, Subpoenas and all that fun stuff (all part-time) in northern California. I'm a fantastic photographer. I do web-pages and build web-sites AND I create apps. I also create Windows applications in case anyone is interested. I only used one full name in this history of mine and that's because I reminded Al Jardine of his offer back at the 35th year reunion. Of course, he had no recollection of it but it is one of my most cherished memories of how I managed to make a "wrong" choice:-). I assure you, I have made many of these "wrong" decisions in my life. The other names I only used the last initial in case they would be embarrassed to know me nowadays. :-)
