Michael's Story
Life
After graduating from UWEC with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, I taught private lessons and traveled around the Eau Claire area teaching band at parochial elementary schools with the Schmitt Music band program. In 1983, I enlisted in the Army band. I was stationed at Ft. oughout central and northern Europe. I left the Army in 1991 and settled in Minneapolis, where I got a job researching sheet-music orders at Schmitt Music. In 1994, I switched careers to become a drafter/designer. After two-and-a-half years at Comtra Systems designing parts for computer chip feeders, I got a job as a technical illustrator at Skyline Displays in Eagan, MN (where I am currently employed.)
