Michael's Story
i didn't make it to the end (1971) but I always wanted someone to know why. I was asked by Brother Martin, I think that was his name, who thought he was a Chinese monk. He was in charge of the second deck of the barraks located on the other side of the football field from the chow hall.
He took me up to his room and at the the ripe old age of 15 asked me what I was going to become in my life. That was really a hard question at that time. I am 61 and still trying to get that figured out. Anyway he told me I didn't belong at the school and was wasting time. This was 3 days before Christmas break. So I packed up my sea bag and left. As you were all going to school I was doing time in the Navy. It was hell trying to find a way of life when that young.

is how I left the Abbey. I ride motorcycles for a tension reducer and have stopped by the school and wonder what happend to all the good people that finished there. I wonder sometimes how my life would have changed if I had stayed and spent my youth in school and not running around the globe. The people I have met and the places I have seen make up for not getting the Abbey education.
So that is my story and just wanted someone to know why I left, never to be seen again. Where is Gene Young, John Goyer and all the bathroom smokers? Funny the things you remember from so long ago.
I have sailed around the world a number of times and seen the works of God up close. And the devil in 50 foot seas.
