Michael's Story
Life
After graduation, I did the obilgitory school thing at Western Michigan University, but luckily fell in love with the subject of Horticulture. I eventually got my B.S. in Environmental Studies and Agriculture from Western in 1983. I worked in the Horticulture iin dustry in Kalamazoo until 1985, when I moved out west to visit my sister. I had a stint in the Peace Corps teaching Agriculture and got my M.S. in Agricultural Education from the University of Idaho in 1989.
I then moved to Redmond, OR to take a job as...Expand for more
a Horticultural Educator with the Oregon State University Extension Service in 1990. I worked there until I started my own horticulture business in 1998.
In 1999, I found I couldnt pass up an aopportunity as a Financial Advisor with PaineWebber in Bend.
My brother, John (1975) is now married to Casey Maphet with two daughters and living in the Stowe, Vermont area.
My sister Brenda has been married to Ben Silverman (1976) since 1978. They homesteaded in the northern Idaho area and are now living in Sandpoint.
