Police Officer for Huntington.
Katie is 22 and senior at Marshall and works as a pharmacy tech.
My wife Rena is a surgical nurse and clinical reviewer at the VA hospital in Huntington. I am retired now after 24 years as a police officer for Huntington. I stay at home and take care of 3 dogs and one retarded cat.

Workplace
After discharge from the military in 1972 I started working for the Huntington Police Dept. as a EMT/Paramedic. In 1978 I was appointed as a Police Officer. I worked just about everywhere in the dept from patrol and investigations. For six of those years I worked in the Detective Division as a homicide and arson ...Expand for more
investigator. After promotion to Sgt. I went back to patrol as a shift supervisor. The most rewarding part of my career was starting a K-9 Unit. My
K-9 was a young black lab trained in narcotics detection and tracking. Through his efforts we did a lot of seizures which enabled us to obtain another dog for the department.
But the most memorable point in my career was presenting the certificate to my son Adam when he graduated from the WV State Police Academy at the top of his class. He is now working as a patrol officer in Huntington WV.
In Sept 2002 I finally pulled the pin, and retired after 24 years. My K-9 "Arros" retired with me and I think he is enjoying retirement more than I am. One of my mentors retired several years ago always tells me I will be busy for about six months doing things around the house and then I will start getting that feeling that I need to go back to work. He tells me to just hold off and that feeling will pass. I'am still waiting for that feeling to pass.
