Michael's Story
Life has been fun!! Shortly after getting out of high school I married my childhood sweetheart Diane. We celebrate our 37th anniversary this year. Our first son Chris was born in Riverside. We moved to Santa Barbara where I started a career in the computer industry building recording heads. I found that I had a natural talent for managing people and mechanical engineering. As a result I spent many years traveling around the world helping to setup manufacturing facilities in Europe, Southeast Asia, and Mexico. We added it up this weekend and found that we moved 15 times in the last 36 years. Our motto has been to "Live for Today". We don't get real hungup on tomorrow till it gets here. We had 2 more children in Santa Barbara, Jen and Mike II. All three of the kids are married. Chris and his wife Armi (pronounced Army) gave us 2 beautiful grandchildren and they have lived across the street from us on a culdesac for 8 years. Jen lives in San Diego with her husband and dogs. She is a college professor there. Mike lives in the Bay Area close to us with his wife Avni. Their first child is due in late September.

the opportunity to hop a plane and go somewhere. Our 2 favorite cities are Paris and Venice. We just got back ( April 2008 ) from a 1 week whirlwind vacation driving around southern Ireland. I hadn't been there since spending a year on and off there in 1980 for business. We vacation a lot in Hawaii and enjoy Kauai the most. Diane told me that the most breathtaking site she has seen is standing on the Napoli Cliffs looking out at the ocean.
Our dream is a 6 month vacation driving around Europe after I retire.
We recently bought our retirement property on a lake at the base of mount Shasta and hope to start building there in the next 2 years.
In 2006 I had a battle with prostate cancer. I ended up going to New Jersey and had surgery done with a Robot. We couldn't get our insurance (Kaiser) to cover it because they didn't agree with the robotic method but I am a strong believer in technology and decided to go for it. I chose the best doctor and best hospital I could find and it was the best money I ever spent. Everything turned out better than expected and I'm cancer free for 2 years and have no side effects. YES! Life is good!
