Michael's Story
Life
My Spouse
At my surprise 30th birthday party in Long Beach, California, I met my wife, Caty Norman. We have been married since 1977. She is an accountant and grew up in Lombard, Illinois.
My Kids
Our oldest son Matt is a graduate of Rose-Hulman and is has been married for several years. He and his wife had a baby boy, Oliver, in November 2006. He and his wife are farmers in Indiana.
Our second son is Nick, who is a graduate of Penn State and is currently working in Kansas City, MO, and is married to Laura. They have a son, Rhys born in 2010..
Our third child, Michelle, is attending Columbia College of Chicago and working for Dominick's. She is majoring in Radio .
My Job
My job was exciting but demanding, I designed cellular telephone systems for Motorola. I took an early retirement and now enjoy helping others through various...Expand for more
volunteer positions in the city of Chicago and local community including Holy Family School and Ravenswood Community Services.
School
I attended Hewlett High School graduating in 1962. I enjoyed the camera club and AV stuff. I was really quiet and shy and have gotten over that. It's amazing what some years and experiences can do in that regard.
College
While at Harpur College (SUNY Binghampton), I studied Russian and Math. I didn't do as well as I should have and wound up leaving. At the time, I was planning on becoming a priest, a vocation I never did achieve. Instead I graduated from UCSB in Computer Science and became a programmer / engineer -- quite a change.
Workplace
I am currently retired but I used to design cellular systems such as the ones that run today and carry your cellular calls. It was interesting and challenging.
