Michael's Story

Graduated from Yale in '73 and got a PhD in computer science from NYU in 1982. Taught while there. Was a researcher and and manager at IBM Watson Research in New York from 1983 to 2009. Since 2009, have been at Rice University, Houston, where I do research and teach. Bought a home near Houston in 2014, where I live with my wife Bolei, who is from Sha...Expand for more
nghai. Still have a co-op apartment in Yonkers, overlooking the Hudson. No children from an early or current marriage, but 13 nephews and nieces. It's fun to be an uncle. Hobbies: softball while at IBM; ballroom and Latin dancing - social and competitive - since 1991. Have kept in close touch with Ted Zuschlag, who's been in Oregon for many years.
