Forty years is a lot to cover, so I'll try to capusulize it. After high school, I played with college for a couple of years while working as a guitar teacher and then in construction and other menial jobs. I also got a real estate license and worked in that field enough to know I didn't care for it. At 23, I took off with a friend to travel around the country for almost a year - during which time I decided I wanted to go back to college. I graduated with honors from the University of Miami with a degree in classical guitar. I studied with Juan Mercadal there, whom some of you may recall. I was mostly working as a musican through the college years. After graduation, I took off for another year of touring the country with a different friend - camping out, working when we ran out of money and enjoying life. I debated going to grad school or getting a day job. The latter won out, as I had turned 30 in the meantime and figured it was time.
